OCTOBER NEWSLETTER

Thank you for your continued support throughout a tricky and emotional season.

We will update the app over the winter with any developments we feel you need to know about, and our social pages will be full of content about what’s happening on park whilst we are closed.

Feedback
Please continue to give us feedback, we do listen and want to hear from you. The kettle is always on!

Fees
We will email your annual site licence agreements for 2025 to the email address we have listed for you, so please make sure it is up to date. If you would like a hard copy posted, please let Reception know.
Our payment plans for your fees are;
• Your first payment must be received on the 1st December (if paying by BACS please make sure payment is made on the 1st December not before, with your surname and pitch number as a reference)
• You can pay in full or in 3 instalments. Either way a payment must be with us on the 1st December
• If paying in instalments, please divide the total into 3 equal payments plus a £10 instalment charge (per instalment). The 2nd instalment must be received in January, and the final by the end of February
• If no payment is received by the 1st December your insurance will not be renewed and your van will be un-insured
• A late payment charge of £120.00 will be added if no payment is received by the 1st December and, or, if full payment is not received before the park opens. Services will also not be turned onto your caravan if full payment has not cleared

Insurance
We have worked hard to continue John’s legacy of offering you the best quote for your insurance, and after them trying to increase the rate for 2025, the only increase you will now see is down to an increase in the caravan values, the actual rate of insurance has been kept the same as last year.

Terms and conditions
We have updated our terms and conditions. These now cover several new topics like the use of drones and other issues that have arisen during the season, so please make sure you have thoroughly read through them. Please also make sure that all your guests have been sent a copy of the park rules before their break with us.

Wintering your caravan
We offer a service to close down and open up your caravan when your insurance with our chosen provider has been confirmed, the cost for this service is £120.00 for standard caravans and £150.00 for centrally heated caravans (we will check the levels of antifreeze in your system whilst wintering and top up if required). If you wish us to winter your caravan, please book it in with Reception, and remember to reserve your spot for re-connection at the start of the 2025 season as early as possible.
Please also make sure you are aware of your obligations during the open season from the 1st of October until the 31st of March.

Safety
PLEASE CHECK YOUR SMOKE & CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS REGULARLY
Please do not allow candles in your caravan
Please make sure your boiler cupboard is kept clear of belongings
Please make sure all vents are kept clear and that all doorways are clear and in working order
Wood stoves are not permitted on Harlyn Sands as they pose a serious fire risk.

Wi-Fi
2025 season fees (March to November)
• Existing customers £135.00
• New customers (including install) £435.00
For more information or to book an install in time for the new season please let Reception know as soon as possible. All equipment remains the property of Unionworld Ltd, so if you do not re-new and have had it installed, we will collect the equipment back.

Other Items
• New for 2025 – the team will be working hard through the winter to continue to make improvements to the park. We have a few things planned and will keep you updated via our social channels, and on the app (as you may have seen we have already started on some things, including a revamp of the shower and toilet facilities).
• We need your help! We are looking to re-create the memory boards that used to fill the walls by the pool tables in the bar. If you have any photos of you or your family at Harlyn through the last 40+ years and are happy for it to be a part of our memory wall then please send it into us, it will need to be in a JPEG format. We will not be able to use all photos that we receive as we have a lot of our own but will try and use as many as we can. Please make sure you give us details of who is in the photo and when it was taken.
• A few owners have reported damage to their caravans from footballs. Please can we ask that you make sure all ball games are played in the park and not around caravans. We also want to remind everyone that Reception is available to help, we would prefer that rather than you approach your neighbours and face confrontation, you speak to Reception with your concerns, and they will be dealt with professionally and anonymously.
• Windbreaks – please remember, when you are not in residence to pack up your outdoor belongings, we cannot cut grass if we cannot get around your caravan. We will not be moving benches so your van will be missed. DO NOT leave windbreaks out, especially if linking one van to the other. This is a serious fire risk.
• Gas – Our gas delivery days in 2025 will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Our gas call out charge after 6pm will be increasing to £30. If we are required to deliver a bottle of gas after 9pm the call out charge will increase to £40.

A message from the Richards family

Thank you to everyone that attended Dads 80th birthday bash, it was a great night and I’m sure he would have been jiving away to Elvis with us all.

We have had a few owners approach us asking if the passing of JR will affect the park in anyway, the Richards family would like to re-assure you that his moto lives on in us, and we will remain family owned, family run for families.

We will strive to do our best to continue his legacy.

We will be holding a remembrance weekend in his honour on the 11th and 12th October, on what would have been his 80th Birthday.  There will be tributes to him and his favourite artists across the weekend.  More details to come soon.

Thank you for all your cards and kind messages of support, it really means a lot to us all and has helped us greatly through this difficult period.

NEWSLETTER

Electric – We have read your meters at the beginning of June and will be sending out an invoice shortly for your usage from the start of the season until the 1st June, so as it’s not such a heavy bill at the end of the season.

Lifespan – We are checking all caravans with a 0-life span and will notify any owners of caravans that we have concerns over in the next few weeks.

Pets – Please can we make sure that dogs are always kept on leads when not in your caravans, we have had a few incidents lately with dogs running loose, which to some children can be quite scary!  Also please make sure any mess is picked up – this can be dangerous and horrible!

Private Lets – Please help us by sending the private let form in as early as possible, we struggle to deal with them when they come in the day before let alone the same day.  Please also make sure they are filled in with all the details of the people coming – this saves us having to ring you up!

Caravan Cleaners – We are actively on the hunt for some caravan cleaners, to work either Saturdays’, Mondays or Fridays or all 3!  If this is of interest, please get in touch.

Wi-Fi – The service we are offering is:

  • Multiple devices and unlimited data on your network
  • Password protected system limited to your caravan
  • Speed limited to 20 meg per caravan (This is not guaranteed and during busy times will be lower, e.g. Netflix requires 6-10mb)
  • We anticipate the monthly fee from the 2025 season to be around £15 per month – so a season cost of £135.00, plus set up costs for new subscribers (March – November). This will be subject to inflation increases each season, and we will confirm this cost in the winter newsletter.
  • This is an annual cost and is not affected by the number of years you have left on your caravan.
  • All equipment remains the property of Unionworld Ltd.

Warranty – If you have any outstanding warranty issues, please let me know.  We are aware that some issues are taking a while to get sorted.  We are chasing issues with the relevant dealerships on a weekly basis, and in some cases going over their heads to try and get things resolved as quickly as possible.  However please remember our hands are tied as we need the manufacturers to resolve the issues.  We will keep on chasing until all issues are resolved for you.  If you have any new issues, please submit them to enquiries@harlynsands.co.uk with a photo attached of the issue.

Please remember – Pack up your outdoor belongings when you are not in residence, we cannot cut grass if we cannot get around your caravan.  We will not be moving benches or windbreaks so your van will be missed.  DO NOT leave windbreaks out, especially if linking one van to the other.  This is a serious fire risk.

Post and Parcels – Please refrain from having parcels delivered unless you are on site to accept delivery.  UPDATE – this is now much more manageable, so thank you for helping us with this.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

It is with great sadness that we write to notify you of the passing of our Dad William “John” Richards, he died with Mum by his side late yesterday afternoon, he is no longer in pain.
We hope that we do him proud, we have some massive blue suede shoes to fill and we hope we live up to his legacy of Family Owned Family Run For Families and continue to offer you the amazing memories that he brought to us all.
He wouldn’t want us to be sad, he would want us Rocking and Rolling through the Bank Holiday Weekend.
Typical Dad, making sure there’s no time to stop the show must go on! He spent his last years preparing us for this moment.
If you would like to speak to any of the family we all intend on being around over the half term and it is such a relief to have Martyn back at the helm who is available should you need him.
This was unexpected, the Drs still believed till the final point that he would fight through, he was one tough cookie and he will leave a massive hole in a lot of people’s hearts 💔
With Love the Richards Family.
